Fall 2015

Typography 1

Express the meaning of a word or idea through the scale, placement, and spacing of letters on the page. Choose three words from the list provided, and create two equally successful solutions for each. The meaning should be conveyed only through the typography of the word itself. Each of your six compositions should be on its own page, trimmed to a 8x8 inch square.

Use the typeface Futura Bold. You may vary the size, spacing, placement, and orientation of the letters. You may reverse, repeat, delete, slice, fill in, or overlap letters. Do not add any other elements (boxes, circles, lines, images, etc.) To your composition. The letters of each word alone are your palette. Do not use any computer effects (drop-shadows, or scale distortions: vertical or horizontal, etc.).
